A Brief History Of The School
Duke Royal Academy was established in 2016 by HRH (Prof) Samuel Ereyi Osato Aduwa Ogiegbaen, the Enogie of Ogbeson. Before his appointment as the Vice Chancellor of Tayo Akpata University of Education, Ekiadolor, he was a Professor in the University of Benin rising to the office of a Deputy Vice Chancellor. The zeal to give his best to his people and humanity led him to build this school which stands our as one of the best private schools in the country.
The school is located along Ereyimwen Street, Ogbeson, Ikpoba Hill, Benin City. It occupies a vast expanse of land measuring 200ft by 500ft. The school is Co-Educational. It is government wish to encourage private efforts in the provision of schools and the conditions or criteria set our by the government to regulate the operations of private schools in the country have been met by Duke Royal Academy.
The purpose of establishing this schools is to provide qualitative education to children who will make positive contribution to society. The inculcation of moral and spiritual values in interpersonal and human relation and the acquisition of appropriate skills, abilities and competences both mental and physical as equipment for the individuals to live in and contribute to the development of society are vigorously advocated and pursued in Duke Royal Academy.
At DRA, pupils enjoy spacious building with a large hall, a library and cozy reading areas. The classrooms are both stimulating and enjoyable and adopted to meet the needs of the children. The school environment is safe with high expectations of behaviour from pupils coupled with a broad balanced, enriched and dynamic curriculum. The school has committted staff with a wide range of experience and expertise to meet the educational needs of the children. There is a strong emphasis on developing reading, writing and mathematical skills of the pupils. Here, the learner is the nucleus of the entire teaching/learning process.
Duke Royal Academy enrolled the first set of pupils on the 19th of September, 2016 being the official opening date of schools for the 2016/2017 academic session, which was approved by Edo State government.
